General Information

This moth has a golden brown/yellow forewing which is darker at the wing tips.

 

The larvae produce a flat, whitish blotch mine on the upper side of a leaf. There are often several mines to one leaf.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.

Wingspan: 8-11 mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), Sweet Chestnut (Castanea sativa)
Flying: One generation, June
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 168 (62.2%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in June 2023
