General Information

This is a quite variable species. Often the creamy-white patch on the dorsum is obscured. It is similar to E.tetraquetrana but generally smaller and with with a darker colouration.


Wingspan: 12-14 mm.
Foodplant(s): Alder (Alnus glutinosa), birches (Betula spp.)
Flying: Two generations, April-June and August-September
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland, heathland and river banks.

Regional Information

Recorded in 29 (10.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in May 2023

Recorded date range (Adult): 15 April to 16 September
