General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an adult.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 14-15mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), elms (Ulmus spp.), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), birches (Betula spp.), docks (Rumex spp.)
Flying: One generation, late September-May (hibernates)
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland, scrub, heathland, hedgerows and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 76 (28.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
