General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 17-21mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Nettle (Urtica dioica), willows (Salix spp.), birches (Betula spp.), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Bog-myrtle (Myrica gale), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: One generation, late July-late August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland, heathland and scrub grassland on chalk or limestone.

Regional Information

Recorded in 13 (4.8%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
