General Information

Pupates in a cocoon on the ground.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Male readily comes to light, sometimes in numbers. Female not.

Forewing length: 16-19mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), birches (Betula spp.), sallows (Salix spp.), Beech (Fagus sylvatica), Sweet Chestnut (Castanea sativa)
Flying: One generation, mid May-late June
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Local

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland, heathland and scrub.

Regional Information

Recorded in 97 (35.9%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
