General Information

This is one of the smaller 'Pugs'.

 

Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light but in small numbers only.
Often found at rest during day

Forewing length: 8-10mm.
Foodplant(s): Goat Willow (Salix caprea), Grey Willow (Salix cinerea), Eared Willow (Salix aurita)
Flying: One generation, June-July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland edges, meadows and marshes.

Regional Information

Recorded in 52 (19.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in June 2022
