General Information

Pupates in a crevice, in leaf litter or in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 10-12mm.
Foodplant(s): Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur), Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Turkey Oak (Quercus laevis)
Flying: One generation, March-early May
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Oak woodland, heathland with oak scrub.

Regional Information

Recorded in 89 (33%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in May 2023
