General Information

This species is difficult to distinguish from A. subpropinquella and genital dissection is usually required for a definitive identification.

 

Pupates in leaf litter or in spun leaves.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an adult.
Both sexes come to light.

Wingspan: 16-19mm
Foodplant(s): Creeping Thistle (Cirsium arvense), Spear Thistle (Cirsium vulgare)
Flying: One generation, September-July (hibernates)
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Open grassy areas and waste ground.

Regional Information

Recorded in 9 (3.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
