General Information

This moth has more indistinct markings than most other Phyllonorycter species.

 

The larvae produce a leaf mine which is usually on smooth leaved willows.


Wingspan: 7.5-8mm
Foodplant(s): Osier (Salix viminalis), Crack-willow (Salix fragilis)
Flying: Two generations, May-June and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Local

Habitat

Fens, marshes and other wet areas.

Regional Information

Recorded in 96 (35.6%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in October 2022

Recorded date range (Adult): 07 April to 11 November

Recorded date range (Larva/Leafmine): 30 June to 15 November
