General Information

This species can occur in large numbers on unsprayed cherries.

 

The larvae mine the underside of leaves. Quite often, several mines may be found on one leaf.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.

Wingspan: 7-8mm
Foodplant(s): cultivated cherries (Prunus spp.), Wild Cherry (Prunus avium), Dwarf Cherry (Prunus cerasus)
Flying: Two generations, May and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Regional Information

Recorded in 130 (48.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
