General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 12-16mm.
Foodplant(s): Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), docks (Rumex spp.)
Flying: Two generations, May-early June and August-September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Wet woodland, fens, marshes, heathland and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 135 (50%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in June 2023

Recorded date range (Adult): 24 April to 08 October
