General Information

This is a variable species with a number of named forms and aberrations.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 16-18mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), elms (Ulmus spp.), birches (Betula spp.), willows (Salix spp.), broadleaved trees
Flying: One generation, September-October
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland, scrub and heathland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 9 (3.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
