General Information

The males of this species are active during the day. The females are more docile and mainly nocturnal.

 

Pupates on the food plant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Male readily comes to light, sometimes in numbers. Female not.
Flies during the day

Forewing length: M 19-22mm. F 17-20mm.
Foodplant(s): Heather (Calluna vulgaris), Sheep's Sorrel (Rumex acetosella), Devil's-bit Scabious (Succisa pratensis), Common Dog-violet (Viola riviniana), plantains (Plantago spp.), herbaceous plants
Flying: One/two generations, June-July and August

Heathland, moorland, grassland and woodland.
