General Information

The female of this species is wingless.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Male comes to light occasionally. Female not.
Often found at rest during day

Forewing length: 14-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.)
Flying: One generation, January-early March
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Open woodland areas, scrub and hedgerows.

Regional Information

Recorded in 36 (13.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
