General Information

Pupates in a cocoon within or below the food plant or in a crevice.

Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 14-21mm.
Foodplant(s): Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), plums (Prunus spp.), Bullace (Prunus domestica)
Flying: Two/three overlapping generations, April-October
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Hedgerows, gardens, woodland and scrub.

Regional Information

Recorded in 160 (59.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
