General Information

This species has many variations including banded forms.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Often found at rest during day

Forewing length: 12-15mm.
Foodplant(s): Aspen (Populus tremula), Black Poplar (Populus nigra)
Flying: One generation, May-June
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Local

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 45 (16.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
