General Information

This species can sometimes be seen at night nectaring on garden flowers, especially those of the tobacco family, Nicotiana.

 

It is unable to overwinter in the UK, although larvae are occasionally found.

Overwinters as Doesn't overwinter in the UK.
Both sexes come to light.
Often found at rest during day

Forewing length: 50-55mm.
Foodplant(s): bindweeds (Convolvulus spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-December (mostly late August-late November)
UK Presence: Immigrant
National status: Uncommon/Rare

Habitat

As an immigrant, it can be found anywhere.

Regional Information

Recorded in 27 (10%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in September 2023
