General Information

Pupates in a spinning between leaves of the food plant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 14-18mm.
Foodplant(s): birches (Betula spp.), Alder (Alnus glutinosa), Hazel (Corylus avellana), oaks (Quercus spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland, heathland and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 12 (4.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
