General Information

This moth has a black head and a dark brownish forewing with a bronzy sheen.

 

The larvae produce a relatively short mine which widens quickly.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Often found at rest during day

Wingspan: 4.5-6mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.)
Flying: Two generations, May-June and August-September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Regional Information

Recorded in 185 (68.5%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in November 2018

Recorded date range (Adult): 05 May to 13 August

Recorded date range (Larva/Leafmine): 14 June to 04 December
