General Information

The small size of this moth distinguishes it from other Coleophora. It flies actively over heather in afternoon sunshine and again at sunrise.

 

The larval cases closely resemble sprigs of heather and are difficult to find.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Flies during the day

Wingspan: 6-8 mm
Foodplant(s): Bell Heather (Erica cinerea)
Flying: One generation, June-July

Habitat

Heathland.
