General Information

This species is generally paler than the Rustic or the Uncertain and tends to have a larger and rounder stigmata. The second generation tends to be of greater numbers.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 13-15mm.
Foodplant(s): docks (Rumex spp.), Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), Prickly Lettuce (Lactuca serriola), Primrose (Primula vulgaris), herbaceous plants
Flying: Two generations, May-July and August-September
UK Presence: Resident, Possible Immigrant
National status: Common

Habitat

Grassland, heathland, open woodland areas, fens, scrub and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 111 (41.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
