General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 22-26mm.
Foodplant(s): Perennial Sow-thistle (Sonchus arvensis), Wild Lettuce (Lactuca virosa), hawk's-beards (Crepis spp.), hawkweeds (Hieracium spp.)
Flying: One generation, late June-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Open ground, coastal vegetated shingle, grassland, fens and scrub.

Regional Information

Recorded in 45 (16.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in July 2022

Recorded date range (Adult): 12 May to 16 August
