General Information

This moth has creamy markings on chocolate-brown wings and a yellowish-orange head tuft.

 

The Larvae feed on the seeds of young fruit. After hibernation in March or April the larvae enters a bud and continues feeding, hence the vernacular name.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.

Foodplant(s): Red Currant (Ribes rubrum), Gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa), currants (Ribes spp.)
