General Information

This is quite a distinctive species, the diagnostic features being the red/brown, black and white markings in the centre of the forewing.

 

Pupates in spun leaves of the food plant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an adult.
Both sexes come to light.

Wingspan: 19-22 mm
Foodplant(s): willows (Salix spp.)
Flying: One generation, September-May (hibernates)
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common
