General Information

This species has diagnostic white streaks running the length of the forewings, with brilliant white hindwings.

 

Pupates in sand.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 15-18mm.
Foodplant(s): Marram (Ammophila arenaria)
Flying: One/two generations, late June-late August and October
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Nationally Scarce B

Habitat

Coastal sand-dunes and beaches.
