General Information

This species has a ground colour that varies from green to reddish-brown.

 

Pupates on or below the ground.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 14-18mm.
Foodplant(s): Hazel (Corylus avellana), sallows (Salix spp.), willows (Salix spp.), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: One generation, July-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland, carr, fens, heathland and scrub.

Recorded in 109 (40.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
