General Information

This moth is golden brown with intricate darker markings on the forewings and often a prominent metallic ruff.

 

Pupates in a cocoon attached to the underside of a leaf.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 17-20mm.
Foodplant(s): delphineums (Delphineum spp.), Larkspur (Consolida ajacis)
Flying: One generation, late June-early August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Gardens and parks.

Regional Information

Recorded in 19 (7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
