This species has a distinctive orange tail fan.
Male comes to pheromone lures but otherwise adults are rarely seen.
Pheromone attractants: ves.
Moth activity times: all day peak around 11am.
Overwinters as a larva, twice.
Chalk downland, limestone grassland and woodland edges.
Recorded in 20 (7.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
