General Information

This species is very similar to P. cerasicolella and is best separated by food plant, or by genital dissection.

 

The larvae create a mine which causes the leaf to arch or fold over.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.

Wingspan: 6.5-7.5mm
Foodplant(s): Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Wild Plum (Prunus americana)
Flying: Two generations, May and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Recorded in 226 (83.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
