General Information

This moth has a golden brown forewing which is shot with purple and which has a broad brassy fascia.

 

The larvae create a narrow gallery which follows the leaf margin and expands into a blotch.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: 4-5mm
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.)
Flying: One generation, May-June
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Recorded in 223 (82.6%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
