General Information

This species is quite variable. One of the most distinctive form is f. decorana, which has an orange area over the mid-part of the forewing.


Wingspan: 12-17 mm.
Foodplant(s): sallows (Salix spp.), poplars (Populus spp.)
Flying: One generation, July-October
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland, parks and gardens, boggy heaths and banks of rivers and streams.

Regional Information

Recorded in 53 (19.6%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
