General Information

This moth has dark forewings with bronzy and purple sheens and a neat whitish fascia.

 

The larvae create a narrow gallery leading to a blotch mine with frass at the centre.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: 4-5 mm.
Foodplant(s): Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Bullace (Prunus domestica)
Flying: Two generations, May-June and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Regional Information

Recorded in 255 (94.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in June 2023
