General Information

This moth has a yellow head and an ochreous speckled appearance.

 

The larvae create a blotch mine in the leaves of apple. There is a diagnostic exit hole on underside of leaf that separates vacated mines from E. atricollis.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: 6-7 mm.
Foodplant(s): apples (Malus spp.)
Flying: One generation, May
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Regional Information

Recorded in 56 (20.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
