General Information

The larvae make distinctive round blotch mines with spiral frass in the leaves of the food plants.


Wingspan: 7-8mm
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Apple (Malus domestica), Common Whitebeam (Sorbus aria), Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), pears (Pyrus spp.), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Quince (Cydonia oblonga), cotoneasters (Cotoneaster spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common
