General Information

This species became extinct in the UK in 1864. There have been many unsuccessful attempts to re-introduce the species from continental races.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.

Wingspan: M: 44-48mm, F: 46-52mm
Foodplant(s): Water Dock (Rumex hydrolapathum)
Flying: One generation, early July-mid August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Extinct

Open fens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 10 (3.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
