General Information

This species is quite variable and there are a number of forms ranging from quite plain to more variegated examples.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light but in small numbers only.

Forewing length: 14-16mm.
Foodplant(s): birches (Betula spp.), sallows (Salix spp.)
Flying: One generation, July-August
UK Presence: Resident and Immigrant
National status: Local

Habitat

Fens, carr, woodland, heathland, scrub.

Regional Information

Recorded in 14 (5.2%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
