General Information

Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Flies during the day

Forewing length: 13-15mm.
Foodplant(s): clovers (Trifolium spp.), Common Bird's-foot-trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), Black Medick (Medicago lupulina), Lucerne (Medicago sativa), vetches (Vicia spp.), trefoils (Lotus spp.)
Flying: One generation, mid May-early July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Meadows, woodland rides, embankments, grassland, usually on chalky soils.

Regional Information

Recorded in 71 (26.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
