General Information

Pupates in leaf litter on in a dead plant stem.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 15-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Reed Canary-grass (Phalaris arundinacea), Wavy Hair-grass (Deschampsia flexuosa), grasses
Flying: One generation, late May-early July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Fens, marshes, wet meadows, open wet woodland, scrub, ponds and lake margins.

Regional Information

Recorded in 59 (21.9%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in June 2023

Recorded date range (Adult): 26 April to 15 August
