General Information

Pupates on the ground or in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 10-12mm.
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), sallows (Salix spp.), Bramble (Rubus fruticosus), ragworts (Senecio spp.), Yarrow (Achillia millefolium), Common Hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium), broadleaved trees, herbaceous plants
Flying: Two generations, May-June and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Nearly everywhere.
