General Information

This species can be distinguished from P. oxyacanthae and P. sorbi by the food plant.

 

The larvae create a mine with many creases in the lower epidermis.


Wingspan: 6-8mm
Foodplant(s): Wild Service-tree (Sorbus torminalis), Wild Pear (Pyrus pyraster), Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), Common Whitebeam (Sorbus aria)
Flying: Two generations, May and August

Habitat

Established woodland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 4 (1.5%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in November 2011

Recorded date range (Larva/Leafmine): 12 September to 16 November
