General Information

Genital dissection is necessary to distinguish this from similar species.

 

The larvae produce distinctive Phyllonorycter-like mines and later from two or more successive leaf cones.


Wingspan: 9-11mm
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Wild Service-tree (Sorbus torminalis)
Flying: Two generations, April-May and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common
