Pupates on or near the ground.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 28-37mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Nettle (Urtica dioica), docks (Rumex spp.), burdocks (Arctium spp.), Hound's-tongue (Cynoglossum officinale), herbaceous plants
Flying: One generation, July-August

Habitat

Damp, open meadows, gardens, fens, riverbanks and woodland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 58 (21.5%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
