General Information

Greyish-white, silky wings. Cross-lines distinct and quite angled. Central and marginal dots very small or absent.

 

Pupates in loose earth.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 10-12mm.
Foodplant(s): Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), docks (Rumex spp.), Knotgrass (Polygonium aviculare)
Flying: One/two generations, June-July and mid August-late September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland, scrub, hedgerows, grassland and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 3 (1.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
