General Information

Pupates in leaves of food plant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 14-17mm.
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Midland Hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Hazel (Corylus avellana), oaks (Quercus spp.), willows (Salix spp.), birches (Betula spp.), Barberry (Berberis vulgaris), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: One generation, June-July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland, hedgerows, heathland and gardens.

Recorded in 112 (41.5%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
