General Information

Feeds at ivy flowers and overripe berries.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 14-16mm.
Foodplant(s): Field Maple (Acer campestre), Beech (Fagus sylvatica)
Flying: One generation, September-early November
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland, mature hedgerows, scrub, grassland, heathland usually on chalky soil.

Regional Information

Recorded in 75 (27.8%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
