General Information

This species has pronounced sexual dimorphism. The male has a costal fold on the forewing and is usually smaller and more brightly coloured. The female has no costal fold and has a much more protruding apex on the forewing.

Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Flies during the day

Wingspan: male 19-23mm, female 20-28mm.
Foodplant(s): deciduous trees
Flying: One/two overlapping generations, May-September
National status: Common
