General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 12-16mm.
Foodplant(s): docks (Rumex spp.), Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), Knotgrass (Polygonium aviculare), lettuces (Lactuca spp.), herbaceous plants
Flying: Two generations, April-July and August-October
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Open grassland, farmland, heathland, wetland and open woodland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 138 (51.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
