General Information

Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 13-16mm.
Foodplant(s): sallows (Salix spp.), Grey Willow (Salix cinerea), Black Poplar (Populus nigra), Alder (Alnus glutinosa), Hazel (Corylus avellana)
Flying: One generation, July-September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Damp woodland clearings and rides, fens and marshes. Also scrub, hedgerows and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 58 (21.5%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
