General Information

Large specimens may be confused with E.cana but can be distinguished by the darker ground colour. Rough grassland, especially on the coast and on chalk downs, waysides, embankments and margins of woods.


Wingspan: 11-23 mm.
Foodplant(s): knapweeds (Centaurea spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-August
National status: Common

HabitatDry, open and grassy areas.
Regional Information

Recorded in 49 (18.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
