General Information

This moth has a characteristic purple-brown and silvery-white colouration. It is most active in the spring with the male flying in sunshine.

Flies during the day

Wingspan: 12-19 mm.
Foodplant(s): Heather (Calluna vulgaris), heaths (Erica spp.)
Flying: One generation, September-April (hibernates)
National status: Local

Habitat

Heathland and moorland.
